There are a number of safety hazards, and Lexus is recalling some imported RX.

Netcom News On December 1, Netcom learned from the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine that some imported Lexus RXs have safety hazards due to imperfect fuel injection correction control procedures in the engine electronic Control Unit (ECU) and insufficient pressure resistance of internal parts of the high-pressure fuel pump. Toyota Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd. has decided to recall some imported RX vehicles produced between November 30, 2018 and March 1, 2021, with a total of 88,545 vehicles; recall some imported RX vehicles produced between September 4, 2018 and September 6, 2022, with a total of 68,434 vehicles.

Recall scope, brand and model

Lexus Import RX 30 November 2018 to 1 March 2021 Engine Electronic Control Unit Program Imperfect September 4, 2018 to September 6, 2022 Insufficient Pressure Performance of Internal Parts of High Pressure Fuel Pump Tabulation: Internet Info Agency

Reason for recall:

(A) within the scope of this recall due to the engine electronic Control Unit (ECU) in the fuel injection amount correction control program is not perfect, resulting in the actual engine fuel injection may be lower than the expected value, resulting in the engine cold start speed instability, in extreme cases, the vehicle at low speed engine accidental flameout, increase the risk of being rear-ended, there is a safety hazard.

(2) Due to the insufficient pressure resistance of the internal parts of the high-pressure fuel pump of the vehicles within the scope of this recall, the internal wear of the fuel pump may occur, resulting in cracks in the welded parts of the fuel pump due to stress concentration. In extreme cases, fuel may leak from the cracks, so there is a risk of fire when it comes into contact with external fire sources. At the same time, fuel leakage and volatilization pose unreasonable emission hazards.

Recall measures:

(1) Toyota Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd. will upgrade the engine ECU control program for vehicles within the scope of the recall free of charge to eliminate safety hazards.

(2) Toyota Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd. will inspect high-pressure fuel pumps for vehicles within the scope of the recall free of charge, and replace parts that do not meet the requirements with improved high-pressure fuel pumps to eliminate safety hazards and unreasonable emissions hazards.
