Xiao Yang was born in Chengde, Hebei Province on January 14th, 1980. His initial dream was to be a painter. In 1996, he came to Beijing, intending to be admitted to the Middle School Attached to the Central Academy of Fine Arts.

He lived in a small alley in Beijing, and lived in a basement hotel with his friends to save money. He spent all his youth in this alley.

"old boys" is a youth inspirational online movie which was written, directed and performed by Shawn in 2010. Once it was broadcast, it was loved by the audience. Later, in 2011, he and Wang Terry collaborated again to launch the first New Year’s online movie "Father", which won many awards such as the 9th Film Huading Award and the China Best Microfilm Award.

With the constant arrival of fame and fortune, his mentality in his twenties is slowly changing, and people who had never been in contact with him at all began to get acquainted with himself.
